Happy Earth Day my friends!
I created this post specifically to help you celebrate, by enjoying the healing power of mother earth. Please celebrate with me, by sharing this knowledge with others… we need the earth and the earth needs us to be more considerate about our environmental impact.
I’m the type of girl who prefers to walk around barefoot, I grew up by the ocean and shoes just didn’t seem that necessary. Now living in a city, going barefoot is not really practical, but I still make a point of grounding myself in our back garden as often as I can. Think about the last time you walked around barefoot on the beach or in your garden, did you feel refreshed afterwards?
What is Earthing/Grounding?
Earthing allows you to transfer negatively-charged electrons from the surface of the earth into your body allowing them to neutralize positively-charged destructive free radicals that are involved in inflammation. The earth’s natural energy makes the ground you walk on an extremely effective and abundant antioxidant!
Therefore, all you need to do is connect your bare skin to the ground, any skin contact counts and will benefit you. This practice is known as Earthing or Grounding and even just a few minutes a day can help you recharge and leave you feeling much better.
The Top 5 Benefits
-
A Healthy Immune System
Your immune system requires a constant fresh supply of electrons in order to function effectively. These electrons contain strong antioxidants that help get rid of free radicals that have built up in your body due to toxins in your environment.
-
Better Sleep
Grounding synchronizes your biorhythms and cardiac rhythms. This in turn balances your sleeping states, which is good for your heart and prevents insomnia.
-
Lowers Stress
By earthing yourself you lower the cortisol levels in your body. Cortisol is the stress hormone, and if you have too much of it in your body it accelerates ageing and can add to abdominal fat.
-
Get Rid of “Dirty Electricity”
Dirty electricity is what surrounds you daily such as: Wi-Fi signals, smartphones, tablets and laptops. Grounding helps your body to deal with this bombardment of electrical pollution that can be damaging to your health.
-
Have More Energy
The combination of all these benefits (less inflammation, lower cortisol levels and better sleep) gives your body more freed-up energy. This increased energy makes you feel better overall as your body has the ability to heal itself as needed.
For a more detailed explanation of this practice feel free to read my article on Grounding for Consumer Health Digest here.
So, there you have 5 great reasons to spend some time outside this earth day. Make sure to be in contact with the ground, and why not give something back, like planting a tree, while you are being healed by mother earth.

This is so interesting! I have never heard of the concept of Earthing but it sounds so beneficial.

It really is worth a try… it may seem very spiritual, but the scientific evidence backing this theory is growing steadily.
